Free Valentine’s Quilt Pattern Mosaic Hearts

I designed this pattern a few years ago, and I really like it. It’s simple and fun to make – you can probably make it with fabrics you have laying around. It’s also easy to customize and personalize. I think it makes a nice anniversary present too.

Download the “Mosaic Hearts” free quilt pattern (PDF).

Here’s a short video of me assembling the quilt:

Fabric Requirements:

  • 1 dozen piglets (9″ by 22″)
  • 2 1/4 yards from selvage to selvage
  • Craft size batting
  • Thread to blend with quilt top
  • 3/4 yard for backing
  • 1/4 yard for binding
  • 1/4 yard for border
  • 1/8 yard for accent strip from selvage to selvage

Some Tips:

Color selection is one of the hardest things about this pattern. Make sure you take your time before choosing them. Take a look at some close-ups of the fabric I used in the video.

This is a great pattern for beginning quilters – I’ve taught it in many of my beginner’s quilting classes.

You can add some pizazz by appliquéing photos to the inside of the hearts, or in the corners.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
